SARACHO
We all Nations Video

Garrett's new and exciting group. "Saracho," is a project very close to my heart,” even before I worked with the legendary Native American group, “Redbone,” I was concurrently working heavily on my own Native American musical compositions. Redbone had a significant influence on Garrett, all throughout his tenure with the group. Eventually, I became the historian and keyboardist for over twenty six years with the group. I enjoyed working with Redbone, especially talking and sharing with the Native American community, that included pow wows, students, festivals and Indian casinos. I'm dedicating a portion of my shows in memory of Lolly Vegas and Tony Bellamy who have passed on. I enjoyed working with Redbone and learning more my Native American community, which brought a resurgence in my life. Now I've embarked on this new project with our new group, “Saracho,” with the hopes of continued work with the Native American community and educating Indian nation, about his travels and adventures with the hope of teaching young Native people the opportunity in learning and believing in themselves. My music doesn't just come from one genre. I've been blessed learning music from other cultures. Thru my Jazz and Latin experience, I've learned all nations of all the Americas, have to unite. Together we form the nation! I'm constantly learning from northern, central and southern artists. Their energy is great!
This new project spearheads my passion thru our work, that includes some of Redbone's musical compositions, in memory of Tony Bellamy and Lolly Vegas. When asked what I do for a living, I simply say three words, Composer, Filmmaker and Storyteller!
About the Music
That's really where it's at, isn't it? My music speaks for itself. It's a reflection of my life, my adventures, the people , I have studied and admired all throughout my journey! "My music is about cause and effect!"
The heart of the music is defined by love, honor and great mystery. '
Highlighting a few of my musical compositions:
"BROWN SKIN LADY, " was written on a rainy afternoon, up in Laurel Canyon. I sketched the cords and melody. I recorded the song and gave it to my cousin, Tito. He wrote and came up with the lyrics and as a result, we came up with this beautiful composition. The song is about a young man whose reaching out to his true love, on and island far away!

Legion of warriors:
HUMP , Sioux chief also known as highbackbone , was a fierce warrior, tactical fighter and buffalo hunter. He fought in numerous battles including The Fetterman Massacre, and the Battle of the Little Big horn. Black hills, alongside, Crazy Horse and Red Cloud. Later, he would play in a crucial role in Ghost Dance movement. This composition is dedicated to him, in his honor.
LORI PIESTEWA, Hopi/Navajo, was the first Native American Woman serving in the US Army to be killed in Iraq. This composition is in here honor and memory!

THE LEGEND OF RICHARD OAKES, Mowhawk steelworker and student ar San Francisco State College spurred the American Indian Studies in university curricula and is credited for helping to change US federal government termination policies of American Indian peoples and culture. He led a nineteen-month occupation of Alcatraz Island with LaNada Means, approximately 50 California State University students and 37 others. The Occupation of Alcatraz is credited for opening a rediscovered unity among all American Indian tribes. He brought the traditional Indian values and beliefs into the contemporary state we live today! This composition was inspired after a visit to Richard' Oakes brother, Lenny Oakes and members of his family. To all the Oakes family, I dedicate this song to Richard Oakes and all his family. "The Legend of Richard Oakes," inspires me even today!
WE ALL NATIONS, is a composition, written by Garrett, Tony Bellamy and Don Podolor. It our version version of the musical composition, "We Are The World, by Quincy Jones. I'm excited about this composition because Tony and I cam up with the concept of dedicating the composition to 52 tribes across North America , Central and South America. We started with 52 tribal names in the composition. I'm proud of this musical tribute to all the Americas!

* Note: The statue on this opening page is from a photo , I took of the "Dineh," which means, "The People!" This iconic Native American sculpture was created by artist Peter Wolf Toth and located in Apodaca Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The sculpture was carved from a pine log as one of 67 monuments in his series of "Trail of Whispering Giants" and was dedicated on August 23, 1986. "Dineh," which means "human beings" in Navajo and Apache, is the 57th statue made by Toth and honors Native Americans in New Mexico.
